Has anyone ever used a manufacturer representative to purchase your products for you? Would you recommend it? Any tips on finding a good one?

I think you have it backwards. Manufacturers reps are commissioned salespeople for the seller. Just like company salespoeple, but instead of working for one company they work for many. They specialize in specific industries.

For instance, a manufacturer's rep in the hardware industry may sell a line of spray paints, a line of ladders, a brand of hand tools, maybe a second "no name" line of hand tools, a line of adhesives, a line of nuts and bolts, etc. All from different companies. He may also "cross-over" and sell the spray paint to auto supply stores and drug stores.
